“I can’t watch you with someone else. It’s tearing me apart!” 

“But Poe, I didn’t know you felt this way! You’re so subtle, and don’t at all stare at my ass all the time.”

“I’m a master of subtlety, my love.” Snap cups Jess’s face gently,”I must have just been too subtle.”

She turns into the movement and lets out a dramatic sigh. 

“Y’know, technically this is insubordination.” Poe points out. 

He’s been watching this display for the past ten minutes, after he’d asked Finn to have lunch with them, only to be told he’d already got plans with Rey but Poe should come along! Poe had quite manfully told him it was cool, and they’d hang out later. As Finn had walked away, Jess and Snap had begun their dramatic interpretation of what had just happened. 

“This is an intervention.” Jess tells him, pulling from Snap’s tender grip. Snap makes his best heartbroken face, and gets a splat of grey goo to the face for his troubles. 

“It’s painful, Poe.” Snap wipes the goo from his face, and flicks it back, “Everytime you make some banthashit excuse, my balls literally try and crawl up inside me in embarrassment.” 

“You hit on Han ten minutes after you met him.” Jess reminds him.

“Successfully.” Snap adds. 

Poe is still proud of that, around everyone who isn’t General Organa. That was an awkward briefing.

“Why is it so hard to hit on Finn?” Jess asks.

Poe rubs his face, ruffles his curls, anything to put off answering the question for a few more moments. 

“Because I don’t want to hit on him.” Poe replies, “I mean, I do. I want to make him see stars and ride him into next week. I’ve got eyes, but… it’s more than that. I’m crazy about him, and I’m pretty certain the intensity of my feelings would scare him. He’s not had that, friendship can overwhelm him, and this? This whole… infatuation, this ridiculous, desperate,lets be real, love I have for him? It’d be too much. I can’t do that to him.”

Jess and Snap stare at him for a long moment. 

“Right up inside me, Poe.” Snap reiterates.
