Maya Angelou’s poem ‘And Still I Rise’ [is] one of those things I try to remember whenever things are looking difficult or insurmountable. Maya Angelou is a hero of mine because she acknowledged everything about herself, good and bad, and it was all OK. And I think we have a tendency now to latch on to only the good aspects of ourselves and that does not the whole person make. That’s denying a part of yourself and it’s dangerous, it’s not healthy. It’s so important to own everything about yourself.”
